Glass Engraving

How I engrave on glass

Glass engraving is the art of transforming plain glass into something unique, detailed, and full of character. Using a dentist drill-style micro motor and specialist burrs, I carefully engrave each piece by hand, creating linework, texture, shading, and frosted effects directly into the surface of the glass. I work with lead-free crystal, soda lime glass, and everyday upcycled glass, giving each item a new life as a one-of-a-kind piece.

My process is slow and precise, starting with a clean surface and a carefully planned design. I build the image gradually, using light, controlled passes so the engraving develops naturally and cleanly. Different burrs are used to achieve different effects, from fine detail to deeper texture, allowing each piece to be finished with depth, clarity, and a handmade feel.

Because every piece of glass reacts a little differently, each engraving has its own character. That’s part of what makes this work so rewarding — whether I’m engraving a treasured crystal item or turning an everyday glass object into something special, the aim is always the same: to create something elegant, personal, and lasting.

Glass Etching

How I etch on glass

Glass etching is a hand-crafted process that creates a soft frosted finish using etching cream and a stencil. The glass is first cleaned, then the stencil is applied to define the design. Etching cream is added to the exposed areas, gently removing a thin layer of the glass surface to create a permanent frosted effect.

After the cream is removed and the glass is rinsed, the stencil is peeled away to reveal a clean, precise design. This technique is ideal for lettering, logos, and detailed patterns, giving each piece an elegant, timeless finish with a subtle matte texture.
