I come from a rich artistic and creative family where craftsmanship were part of everyday life. My Hungarian grandfather (Dezso Futak Senior) was a goldsmith and silversmith, my father (Dezso Futak Junior) a wood carver, and my mother (Anna Futak) talented in drawing, singing, and songwriting. Being surrounded by creativity from an early age gave me a deep appreciation for detail, patience, and artistic expression.
As a self-taught artist, I have explored a range of creative disciplines including interiors, stencilling, jewellery making, drawing, and painting, as well as experimenting with painting on glass. Each of these has shaped my style, blending traditional techniques with a personal and contemporary feel.
In November 2020, during lockdown, I discovered glass engraving after watching a YouTube video by renowned engraver Lesley Pyke. What began as curiosity quickly became a turning point - a creative reset that led me to pursue a more focused artistic path. Since then, I have developed my skills in glass engraving, creating detailed, hand-crafted pieces that reflect both precision and artistic sensitivity.
I am a member of the Guild of Glass Engravers and now primarily focus on bespoke commissions, creating meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces for my clients. While I occasionally appear at select craft fairs, with a small range of my plant pots, jewellery and cards, my main focus is on personalised work that captures individual stories and moments.
